India-Spain Delegation Science Talks Boost Astrophysics And AI Cooperation

A high-level delegation from Spain held discussions with India’s Science and Technology leadership in India, focusing on expanding cooperation in astrophysics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.
The Spanish delegation was led by Dr. Eva Ortega-Paíno, Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, while the Indian side was represented by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and other portfolios.
Astrophysics And Space Research At The Center Of Talks
Both sides placed strong emphasis on strengthening collaboration in astrophysics and space sciences. Discussions included opportunities for joint research in mega-science projects and advanced space-related studies.
Officials said the meeting reflects the growing scientific partnership between India and Spain, with a focus on long-term research cooperation and innovation-driven development.
Broader Focus On AI, Biotech, And Digital Innovation
The talks also covered multiple emerging sectors, including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, digital health, advanced materials, and medical devices.
Institutions from both countries discussed ways to improve researcher exchange, industrial participation, and startup involvement in joint innovation programmes.
The Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) of Spain also participated in the discussions, along with senior officials and scientists from India’s Department of Science and Technology.
Expanding Industry And Startup Collaboration
According to officials, the bilateral framework is increasingly involving industries, startups, and research institutions. The collaboration aims to convert scientific research into commercially usable technologies.
Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that India-Spain cooperation in science and technology has expanded steadily over the past decade, with growing outcomes in industrial research and innovation ecosystems.
Long-Term Scientific Partnership Strengthened
Both countries reviewed existing cooperation mechanisms and explored new thematic areas aligned with global scientific priorities. These include circular economy solutions, digital transformation, and space research collaboration.
Officials said the meeting reaffirmed commitment from both sides to deepen scientific ties and build stronger research and innovation networks in the coming years.
