NASA has launched a new initiative inviting filmmakers, musicians, writers, and digital creators to help share the stories behind some of the agency’s biggest space and aviation missions. The move comes as NASA expands public engagement efforts tied to lunar exploration, Mars technology, and next-generation flight systems.
NASA announced a new Announcement for Proposals on May 21, calling on creatives to submit partnership ideas before June 30. The agency said selected participants will work under unfunded Space Act Agreements designed to support educational and storytelling collaborations.
NASA Expands Public Storytelling Around Artemis Missions
The agency said proposals may focus on several major NASA programs, including the growing Artemis program. NASA recently added the Artemis III Moon mission to its schedule for 2027, followed by Artemis IV in 2028.
The Artemis program aims to return astronauts to the Moon and support long-term lunar exploration. NASA is also continuing work on plans linked to a future Moon base as part of broader deep-space exploration goals.
Officials said creators may request access to NASA facilities, mission personnel, and research programs depending on project requirements.
Mars Nuclear Propulsion And Aviation Research Included
NASA is also encouraging proposals connected to its nuclear propulsion research. This includes the planned Space Reactor-1 Freedom mission to Mars in 2028 carrying the Skyfall payload.
The agency said storytelling projects may also explore advanced aviation testing programs and experimental aircraft research currently underway.
While the opportunity mainly targets creators based in the US, NASA said international participation may be included in limited numbers within project teams.
Creative Industry Interest In Space Exploration Continues To Grow
Interest in space-related documentaries, educational media, and digital storytelling has increased globally in recent years as governments and private companies expand space exploration programs.
NASA said proposals should clearly explain funding structures, distribution plans, and the type of agency support requested for each project.
