More than 2,500 students from over 60 institutions participated enthusiastically, showcasing their creativity and dedication to LiFE principles. The event drew over 3,000 visitors in total.
Highlights of the event included innovative displays by school students on eco-friendly lifestyles. Their projects ranged from harnessing kinetic energy from daily mechanical activities to generating energy from agricultural stubble and crafting decorative products from e-waste, demonstrating practical and thoughtful approaches.
The occasion featured spontaneous competitions in face painting and poster making, where children and youth creatively expressed their environmental consciousness. Themes ranged from promoting healthy lifestyles and efficient use of electric appliances to tree planting for biodiversity enhancement.
A workshop on waste management conducted by Sulabh-International Institute of Health and Hygiene illustrated simple techniques for segregating dry and wet waste at home, aimed at enhancing local waste management effectiveness.
The exhibition also showcased environment-friendly products from non-governmental organizations and 18 EIACP (Environment Information Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme) centers across India. Products included millets-based foods, organic honey, utility items made from non-timber forest produce such as cutlery, lampshades, baskets, and bags, as well as compost from kitchen waste and portable solar panels for electric stove power.
Participants exhibited inspiring ideas and a deep commitment to environmental stewardship. Recognitions and awards were presented to outstanding individuals, teams, schools, and colleges by Ms. Nameeta Prasad, Joint Secretary of MoEF&CC, acknowledging their contributions to LiFE themes and their collective enthusiasm.
Organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) India EIACP center, with support from MoEF&CC, the event was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's LiFE initiative introduced at COP26. LiFE advocates for mindful consumption and aims to align human lifestyles with nature, promoting sustainability and environmental preservation.
