Due to the significant improvement in Delhi's average Air Quality Index (AQI), which registered 346 at 4:00 P.M., the Sub-Committee responsible for implementing the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) convened today. They reviewed current air quality conditions, meteorological forecasts from IMD/IITM, and the existing Stage-III restrictions under GRAP in the National Capital Region (NCR) since December 22, 2023.
Considering the forecasted AQI not deteriorating further and the disruptive impact of Stage-III restrictions on stakeholders and the public, the Sub-Committee unanimously decided to immediately revoke Stage-III of GRAP across the entire NCR. However, Stage-I to Stage-II actions will remain in force and will be intensified and monitored closely by all relevant agencies to prevent AQI levels from slipping into the 'Severe' category in the near future.
The Sub-Committee emphasized the importance of strict compliance with GRAP guidelines under Stage-I and Stage-II to avoid the necessity of re-imposing Stage-III restrictions. They also underscored that sites and industrial units under closure orders must not resume operations without explicit permission from the Commission.
Moving forward, the Sub-Committee will continue monitoring the air quality closely, taking into account real-time AQI data and forecasts provided by IMD/IITM, and will adjust GRAP actions as necessary. Detailed information on the revised GRAP schedule can be accessed on the Commission’s website at https://caqm.nic.in/.
