In a significant move towards accelerating global green energy transitions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) today at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This prestigious three-day summit celebrates India's landmark achievement of surpassing 200 gigawatts (GW) of installed non-fossil fuel energy capacity.
The event has drawn a diverse audience of international dignitaries, industry leaders, and green technology innovators. The exhibition area features groundbreaking technologies from a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including public and private sector companies, start-ups, and major industry players, showcasing the latest advancements in renewable energy.
Addressing the assembled leaders, Prime Minister Modi expressed optimism about the productive discussions expected over the next three days on energy futures, technological innovations, and policy frameworks. He underscored the broader implications of these dialogues, which he believes will benefit humanity at large.
Modi highlighted the trust placed in his government, re-elected for a third term, as a reflection of the nation's aspirations. He emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming India into a leading global economy by 2047. This ambitious vision includes a rapid expansion of infrastructure and advancements in various sectors including renewable energy.
In his address, Modi outlined several key initiatives from the government's first 100 days in office, emphasizing substantial investments in infrastructure, housing, and research. These include plans for constructing 7 crore houses, the development of 12 new industrial cities, and the approval of high-speed transportation projects.
A major focus of the summit is India’s green energy sector, where Modi announced a viability gap funding scheme for offshore wind energy projects amounting to Rs 7,000 crore. India aims to expand its hydropower capacity to 31,000 megawatts with an investment of Rs 12,000 crore.

He highlighted the nation’s goal to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and lauded the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, which funds rooftop solar installations for households. This scheme not only promotes renewable energy but also creates job opportunities and drives economic benefits for Indian families.
The Prime Minister also touched on innovative solar projects, including the transformation of Ayodhya into a model solar city and the establishment of solar villages. These initiatives are part of India's broader strategy to leverage solar power in rural and urban settings.
Modi emphasized India’s commitment to a sustainable future, mentioning efforts such as the Green Hydrogen Mission, the Waste to Energy campaign, and the circular approach to critical minerals. He also noted India's focus on Pro-Planet people principles through initiatives like the International Solar Alliance and the Global Biofuel Alliance.
The event is further underscored by India’s role as a host for significant global events, reflecting its growing leadership in the green energy sector. With participation from countries like Germany, Australia, Denmark, and Norway, RE-INVEST is set to foster international collaboration and investment in renewable energy.
The 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet and Expo highlights India’s strategic role in the global green transition and its commitment to fostering sustainable development through innovative energy solutions. As the world faces urgent climate challenges, India’s leadership and initiatives at this summit signal a robust commitment to building a greener, more sustainable future for all.
