India Energy Week 2026 opened with a strong focus on investment, partnerships and coordinated action in the global energy transition, as leaders highlighted rising demand, supply security and affordability concerns. The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders and investors from multiple regions, positioning India as a central hub in global energy discussions.
Investment Focus Amid Global Energy Transition
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said the energy transition requires sustained investment across multiple energy sources. He emphasized that the transition is centered on energy addition rather than replacement. He pointed to continued investments in oil, gas, biofuels, green hydrogen, LNG and clean cooking fuels as essential to maintain stability in global energy systems.
Puri highlighted India’s policy reforms, including the Open Acreage Licensing Policy and Discovered Small Fields bidding rounds, aimed at attracting global investors. He also referenced the expansion of LPG coverage and clean cooking access as indicators of inclusive energy growth.
India’s Role in Future Global Energy Demand
UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber noted that global energy demand growth is being driven by emerging markets and digitalization. He said India is expected to be a major contributor to global energy demand in the coming decades. Al Jaber warned that underinvestment poses a key risk to energy security and affordability. He reaffirmed ADNOC’s role as a supplier of crude oil, LNG and LPG to India, highlighting the long-term energy partnership between the two countries.
Regional Sustainability and Global Cooperation
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the event reflects efforts to convert dialogue into action. He outlined Goa’s long-term goal of achieving 100 percent renewable energy by 2050, while balancing environmental protection and economic activity linked to marine resources.
India Energy Week 2026 reinforced the importance of international cooperation, innovation and capital mobilization to support a secure and sustainable global energy future.
