India is witnessing rising temperatures as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues a heatwave advisory across several regions. Maximum temperatures are ranging between 40°C and 44°C, with Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan recording a high of 44.5°C. Many areas are reporting temperatures above normal by over 5°C, signaling increasing heat stress.
Heatwave Conditions Likely In Key Regions
The IMD has forecast heatwave conditions in parts of northwest and central India, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Coastal states such as Odisha, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are expected to experience hot and humid weather. Warm night conditions in northern plains may further increase discomfort.
Health Advisory And Safety Measures
The IMD has warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat may lead to heat-related illnesses such as heatstroke. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and wear light clothing. Vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, are at higher risk.
Outlook For Coming Days
Temperatures in northwest India may remain steady briefly before declining, while other regions could see a gradual rise. Heatwave conditions are expected to persist over the coming days.
