NASA is expanding access to its free streaming platform, NASA+, by bringing it to Amazon Fire TV Channels. The move is part of the agency's broader effort to make space exploration and science programming available on more devices. Fire TV users can now access NASA+ content through Fire TV Channels and compatible Alexa+ devices, according to a NASA announcement released on July 23.
The expansion comes as global interest in lunar exploration and commercial space activities continues to grow. NASA said the partnership supports its long-standing public outreach mission under the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958.
Wider Access To Live Space Missions
NASA said viewers on Fire TV will be able to watch live and on-demand coverage of major space events. Future programming is expected to include science mission launches, robotic lunar deliveries, testing of human landing systems, and upcoming Artemis mission milestones. The platform also plans to stream the first crewed Artemis mission to the Moon and other exploration activities as schedules are confirmed.
NASA+ remains free and ad-free through the NASA app and the agency's official website. The service first launched in 2023 and has gradually expanded across multiple streaming platforms to reach broader audiences.
Artemis Program Remains A Central Focus
Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+, said the agency aims to share space exploration with the widest possible audience. She noted that global interest in Artemis II demonstrated strong public engagement and highlighted NASA's commitment to transparent mission coverage.
Earlier this year, NASA also outlined plans to increase the pace of Artemis missions and continue work toward establishing humanity's first Moon base. The Fire TV partnership supports those goals by expanding public access to mission updates and educational programming.
Growing Digital Strategy For Global Audiences
The Fire TV rollout follows NASA's broader digital distribution strategy. In 2025, the agency announced a partnership to bring NASA+ programming to Netflix, reflecting a shift toward reaching audiences through widely used streaming platforms.
As governments and private companies invest more heavily in space exploration, accessible digital coverage is becoming an increasingly important tool for public engagement, education, and transparency.
