The India Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather alert for May 13, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across several parts of India. According to the department, wind speeds may reach between 65 and 70 kilometers per hour in some regions.
States expected to witness rain and storm activity include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and parts of Rajasthan. Eastern India has been placed under special watch due to the risk of lightning strikes and sudden weather changes.
The IMD said cyclonic circulations over western Rajasthan and southwest Madhya Pradesh are influencing current weather conditions across northern and eastern India. Several districts in hill states may also experience heavy rainfall and gusty winds during the next 12 hours.
Delhi is likely to witness thunderstorms with moderate winds, while Punjab and Uttar Pradesh may receive intense rainfall in isolated areas. Bihar remains under yellow alert in multiple districts.
Meanwhile, parts of Madhya Pradesh are expected to continue facing heatwave conditions despite rainfall activity in neighboring states.
