Suzlon Group plans to invest ₹550 crore in three artificial intelligence-powered wind blade manufacturing facilities in Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu by 2027. The expansion aims to increase production capacity, improve delivery timelines and support India’s growing wind energy sector.
The investment comes as renewable energy developers seek equipment to meet project targets. Suzlon plans to finance the new facilities through internal accruals, according to the company’s stated plans. Co-founder Girish Tanti said the projects are expected to be established by 2027.
Three States To Get New Wind Manufacturing Facilities
Tamil Nadu will receive ₹200 crore of the planned investment. The remaining ₹350 crore will be allocated to the Gujarat and Karnataka facilities. The company has not specified the individual investment amounts for those two states in the information provided.
The new factories are planned closer to wind project sites. This could help reduce equipment transportation requirements and improve project execution. Suzlon already operates manufacturing facilities in Jaisalmer, Bhuj, Ratlam, Dhule and Anantapur.
The company expects the expansion to strengthen its manufacturing network and support the production of wind turbine components.
18 Factories And 15,000 Expected Jobs
Suzlon expects the expansion to create 3,000 direct jobs and 12,000 indirect jobs. The company estimates that 80% of employment linked to the projects will be in rural areas. These figures represent expected employment, not confirmed appointments.
The planned investment also supports the domestic manufacturing of renewable energy equipment. Wind blade production requires specialised materials, industrial facilities and quality control systems. Locating production closer to project sites may help manufacturers manage logistics and delivery schedules.
AI And Automation In Wind Energy Production
Suzlon is expanding its use of digital technologies across manufacturing operations. Its stated initiatives include manufacturing execution systems, enterprise resource planning, Internet of Things technologies and robotics in nacelle production.
AI-enabled vision systems are being used to identify product defects in real time. Digital quality and safety platforms are also intended to strengthen production monitoring and workplace oversight.
The company reported an order book of about 6 gigawatts as of March 2026. The additional capacity is intended to support order execution as demand for wind energy equipment grows.
The actual impact will depend on project completion, production performance and order delivery. The planned expansion highlights the growing role of automation and domestic manufacturing in India’s renewable energy supply chain.
